Coaching and positive psychology can benefit anyone. The most important factor for success is that you are motivated and willing to change. You will bring a personally relevant topic to work on, and the sessions will be built around your desired outcome. I work in person and online using zoom.
There are no concrete rules. Each person will decide how far they want to go. I recommend six sessions to delve deep enough and allow time for new plans to emerge and change to happen. These can be scheduled to suit your own pace and existing commitments. Usually clients leave a minimum of a weeks gap and a maximum of a month between appointments. At the end of six sessions we discuss a plan to move forward. Coaching builds self-reliant skills that clients can take forward for the rest of their life.
Towards the end of a coaching session you will be asked to consider what actions you can take towards your new plan. No matter how small , the idea is to set the ball in motion and build momentum between appointments. The brain has the ability to be malleable, allowing it to adapt continually to changes in our environment. The aim of between session tasks is to flex a different set of cognitive muscles.
Coaching is not therapy and a coach is not qualified to diagnose or treat any kind of psychological condition. I would urge you to confide in strictest confidence any therapeutic treatment you have received in the past and any existing conditions. There can be a fine line between distress and mental illness. If I consider at any point that you would be better served by a trained mental health professional, then I would consult my network to offer a suitable referral.
I have a Masters degree in coaching psychology and positive psychology and became a member of the British Psychological Society after completing additional professional development training . I am in regular professional supervision and fully insured. Apart from this I have completed an InnerMBA program with mindful University New York and am 4 years into an accredited program in Japanese psychology.. I meet each week with my Masters alumni group where we share research and discuss best practice. Finally, I have trained to offer a trauma informed coaching relationship.
I offer a free 30 minute chemistry call so that we can get to know each other, and you can ask any questions before making a decision. I welcome any feedback during sessions. Coaching is a place where you can totally free your inhibitions and experiment. If somethings not working let me know and it can be changed.
I try to be as flexible as I can with appointments.I have a cancellation period of 72 hours. I have a limited number of appointments each week.
I do write notes during sessions to refer back to things without interrupting your conversational flow. You are welcome to destroy them at the end of the appointment. I do keep password protected case notes using an anonymised reference, so that I can track progress, consider relevant materials between appointments and seek advice from an experienced supervisor if necessary.
I only work with a small group of clients at anytime and grow my business through word of mouth.
If you benefit from working with me and want to refer a friend I will offer them a discount of 25% off their first session.
If you are not in a position to afford it right now, still get in touch as I do offer some appointments on a sliding scale.
If there is anything else that you would like to know, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
